Ordinary card and board games can often be easily converted into useful classroom tools. A deck of old maid cards (they feature a variety of animals dressed in the uniforms of different professions) is perfect for building vocabulary and practicing verb forms with beginning to intermediate learners.

Following the game's regular play of finding the matching pairs of cards to earn points, students can be asked questions about the pictures as they flip them over. Right answers allow them to proceed.
