This is a great lesson for intermediate-level students using a local English newspaper or magazine. If you can't get enough copies for all of your students, make copies of the movie listings, restaurant guide, bar guide, and a city map if featured.
Have the students work in pairs or groups. Each group will choose one movie, one restaurant, and one bar, and put together a perfect night on the town. There is a variety of target language this lesson can be used for: extending invitations; describing places; giving directions; making plans. As a variation, have the students plan a day in the city, selecting museums, shopping areas, parks, etc. – Lesson Tip courtesy of Daniel Tessitore, Tokyo, Japan |
